Welcome to my blog

My name is Hung Nguyen and I'm an international student from Vietnam, but I have friends and relatives in Orange County, California so I mainly go there to visit them when I'm not in the Tampa area. My major is Business Analytics and Information Systems, which is primarily about analyzing data to help businesses grow, and my minor relates to sensory marketing analysis which revolves around marketing based on the 5 senses.

Two of my combined interests are that I love sports cars and I love to use them to travel to mountainous areas for beautiful, magnificent views. I tried to pick a career path that would most beneficial to this hobby as it helps me travel to many places while providing a stable amount of salary. Another hobby that I enjoyed doing is reading books while it is raining, as it really isn't the quietest but it is certainly calm and tranquil which is suitable for my ideal reading environment's conditions.

One part-time job that I used to have was the Public Affairs intern position at an advertising agency called Ogilvy. The job is data analysis and ideas pitching oriented, where we collect and analyze data from search engines and then provide recommendations to our clients.

My current favorite social media platform is Instagram as you can use pictures to express yourself instead of words and I felt like that is suitable to my personal characteristics. And this is my first time creating a blog since I mostly don't express myself through words so I have never created a blog prior to this. I have no previous experience with using or reading blogs. My feeling towards using blogs is pretty neutral, I just don't often express myself through words so I don't use blogs.

    Hi Hung,
    I'm glad you are in class this semester. Don't worry about not liking to express yourself through words. You'll get used to doing assignments this way or you can figure out ways to do some of the assignments creatively.

After reading this week's material about social media usage in professional settings, I realized that there are multiple forms and formats that social media can be employed in the workplace, but the general goal is to build relationship networks and share information. It can be a great way to get to know your colleagues, which will create a positive working environment that can help increase everyone's work productivity. Another beneficial aspect of social media at work is the ability to share information almost immediately, usually, it would often take a few business days for a department to contact another department and respond, but with social media, it can be done in a couple of minutes. After carefully interpreting this module's reading, I have realized how great of impact pictures can have on our perception, especially for social media users. Words have always been considered the primary form of communication and have contributed to one of the most popular communication channels (verbal). However, non-verbal communication forms that are tended to be expressed through images, and pictures are able to provide us with more reliable information and engage us more than just solely words. Therefore, pictures and images have always been used to convey emotions or thoughts that words failed to on social media platforms, but images and pictures posted on those sites aren't always genuine.
